Very nice pub. Roast dinner was delicious. Well made and a good portion. I have it 4 star as the fish and chips was not the best. Fish was dry and smelt of old oil. Kid’s portions were a good size. Service was very good even though was a very busy Sunday. This place is dog friendly with quite a few people bringing there dogs in with them.

Came to socialise with family, the venue is lovely, spacious, garden looks great for summer. Drinks fairly reasonably priced, though non-alcoholic drinks are a little expensive. Food wise, majority of the party were disappointed with- the brisket pie; really didn't taste great and the pastry was poor, the steak was average but not worth £32, the burgers both veggie and meat were not good and the veggie one was mostly left. The sausages were good, as was the chicken skewer, but the mozzarella cheese was pretty tasteless and such a small portion and not what is shown online. Overall I would come back for drinks but would not book a table for food again, sorry!

What a disappointment.. - took ages to be seated at our table, and when sat down waited 30 minutes to be given menus and order drinks. - we were a table of six and ordered x3 sharing roasts for 2. The waiter read back our order but obviously forgot to put through x3, and only 1 came out. When the roast came out it was stone cold, with cold gravy and cold plates. - whilst waiting for the other 2 roasts to arrive we spoke to the manager who told us “the waiter only put through 1, and sometimes people come in here and share 1 roast” which is ridiculous as why on earth would 6 people share a roast for 2 and ask for 6 plates. - after being told the other roasts were on their way we waited a further 30 minutes for them to arrive. So nearly two hours later and only 2 people haven eaten we are still waiting... Mistakes happen, and we were very understanding. But to not have anyone apologies or check up on us isn't great service all. We should not have been made to feel like this was our fault when it wasn't. ~ They took no notice of my request that it was my sisters 30th. Would not return.

Booked a table here for dinner. There were three of us and all opted for starters and mains as well as drinks. We were really looking forward to this meal as it was to celebrate a special occasion. Unfortunately, it fell pretty short of our expectations due to a couple of issues. Firstly, I ordered the Raclette and Pancetta burger without the house sauce but with the tomato and red pepper relish. The burger came to me without the relish but with the house sauce. Round the wrong way. I got up and went to the bar to politely tell the member of staff of the mishap. Moments later a member of staff came over and said that the order was correct and that the 'sauce' was not the house sauce but mayo. This was not mentioned on the menu or I would have asked without. I do find it odd that one burger would have three sauces in it. Regardless, I believed the member of staff, and scraped the mayo out of my burger. I was about to start eating when the staff member came back over and asked if everything was OK. I said no, not really. She offered to take it back. I said yes please, I would just like the food as I ordered. With the relish but without the house sauce or the mayo. She came back a few minutes later to tell me that the reason there was no relish was because they had run out. Mentioned that their was miscommunication between the kitchen and herself. My burger eventually did come (without the relish) once the rest of my party had finished theirs. I mentioned that as the burger came with ingredients not mentioned on the menu, that is really quite dangerous. When I finally got my burger, I quite enjoyed it, but my party did not enjoy their mains too much and one actually ordered a side of chips and left most their main. Despite this, the bill came in full with no deductions and with a 10% service charged included. We paid this without fuss as to be fair to the server, she did apologise numerous times but sticking a service charge on when there has been issues doesn't seem right to me. Following paying the bill in full, the server walked away. I said politely - excuse me, can I have the receipt. She said the machine had run out of paper. She went away and printed just a copy of the table receipt, not a card receipt. I was told that they didn't know how to print it and that they would need to call IT to sort. I said not to worry (I was in a rush). Won't be returning.

I recently went to the Princess of Wales for a Sunday roast with the family, it was such a lovely pub with great service, food and decor. I had the sharer roast, at first I didn't think it would spread across 2 people but I was pleasantly surprised as we were both struggling to finish. We were checked on frequently and was given everything we asked for, would highly recommend and return. The 2 servers I had were Pierce and Christina, they were so lovely and were great with my 2 year old too.

Delicious Sunday roast, I had the vegetarian nut roast which was one of the best I've had ! fantastic service , thanks to the team, special mention to Christina and Pierce for being so attentive!

Had a lovely afternoon there for my birthday the food was amazing recommend the roast sharer and the scotch egg for starter. The service from Christina was really good and fast aswell will definitely be going back again.

Our local. Has varied over the past 15 years but currently is very good. The specials on the menu were lovely - especially the fish pie and the shepherd's pie. Nice garden out the back too. Would recommend booking as it can get busy.

Excellent pub with delicious food and very helpful staff. I'm especially grateful to them for reserving a parking space near the entrance for a guest of mine who has issues with mobility and cannot walk long distances. I'm also grateful that they helped us swap our table outside for an inside table when it turned out we had be over optimistic about how warm the weather would be!

Nice pub, food is too expensive for the quality and portions. A downside is that there are too many dogs (big dogs) around. I don't have anything against them and I am actually sorry for them as the pub should not be a place for animals with loud voices, music and crowds. But seeing dogs licking the plates where owners dined makes me refrain from ordering food anymore. That is not hygienic and not right at all.
